Snakes and Ladders
PeacefulAt least, I am one of these people.
It's this time of year- well, mostly around New Year's- that I tend to become overly reflective, the end of 2008 being no exception. And so it seems a reason as good as any to hit the keyboard again. Though I don't really expect anyone to take too much notice of my end-of-year musings, this is my way of closing a chapter... reflecting.
Another year ending, a new one beginning... and still no horizon to fix my sights on. Though this time around, I find it exciting- living day by day, putting one foot in front of the other. I think back to this time last year and am relieved I'm no longer fumbling round in the dark.
Now that I think about it, 2008 was a bit like a game of snakes and ladders, of ups and downs. I'd get a little way, only to be knocked back to square one again, over and over. I could be on a good streak for a while, then out of nowhere would reemerge the snake. And it was beyond me as to how to get around it.
It did get to be pretty rough for weeks at a time.. and I'm just glad to have had the people I did around, to know now what the problem was. Somehow, sometimes there's relief in knowing things are beyond your control.
I'm excited about 2009.. in that there is no way I could possibly guess what's coming.
I've reached a point where I'm content with everything, and have every hope that 2009 will bring with it good things.
